ESTHER is a hybrid organisation with a registered 501(c)(3) and a FinTech wing with a focus on inclusive financial services for the unbanked and vulnerable.
ESTHER’s community partners include schools, charities, churches and city councils who register people in crisis or in long term systemic poverty to receive donations directly onto an ESTHER pre-paid card.
Each person receiving donations is always connected to a home community that offers soft services like counselling, advice and other community resources.
Everything we do at ESTHER is anchored in collaborative community partnerships.
Our pre-paid card solution provides a safe and quick way for those in need (including the unbanked) to receive financial aid. We switch off high risk merchants including liquor stores, gambling sites, cash withdrawal and particular online purchases.
Financial aid is protected for groceries, utilities, accommodation and other basic needs.
Our customer support team at ESTHER is trained in navigating both financial services support as well as safeguarding support for our recipients. Our team may encounter both the need to replace a lost or stolen card and also hear about some domestic abuse situations arising or physical or mental health concerns on the same support call.
Supporting the marginalised and vulnerable in our society requires ongoing and unique training for our support teams and we carefully consider the needs of those receiving crisis funding on the ESTHER platform.
All recipient data, donor information and charity records are encrypted, secure and not shared with any third parties.
